The meeting started at 6:30PM – It was livestreamed on Facebook. Amanda opened the meeting welcoming people who joined. She said there will be news and presentations about the neighborhood and the City. The Canton Community Association (CCA) is an all-volunteer group. The Board meets monthly. As more and more families make Canton their home, education remains a vital part of our community. Parents can now look to the CCA to provide a quarterly update from schools in and surrounding our neighborhood. This month we have info from Archbishop Borders, Clay Hill Public Charter School, Commodore John Rodgers, Hampstead Hill Academy, Patterson Park Public Charter School, The New Century School, and St. Casimir Catholic School.

Baltimore Recreation & Parks announces that city pools are open for the summer and select permits are now being issued for outdoor gatherings at city parks.

On Saturday, June 19, 2021, (Juneteenth) the Canton Community Association, in partnership with the Baltimore National Heritage Area and the Friends of President Street Station, will unveil a set of historic panels commemorating Frederick Douglass’ escape from slavery in 1838.

On Monday, April 5, 2021, the statue of Captain John O’Donnell was removed from O’Donnell Square Park. On Wednesday, April 7, The Baltimore Sun printed this OpEd from CCA President Mark Edelson, written on behalf of the Canton Anti-Racism Alliance.

The I Wonder Garden is one of Canton’s best-kept secrets. The 7,000 sq. ft. garden, which features native plants and community plots, is currently undergoing a bit of a renaissance. With renewed interest from local volunteers, the support of the CCA, and help from Councilman Zeke Cohen, an MOU is now in place with the city of Baltimore to keep the garden safe and accessible to our community.

The CCA welcomes new Business Member Digitiv. Founded by Rob Winters and Brittany Brown, the company launched in Baltimore during the summer of 2020.
