The 6th Annual Baltimore Seafood Fest will be held on Saturday, September 14, from noon to 7:00 p.m. at the Canton Waterfront Park. This fun and tasty, family-friendly event features some of the area’s favorite restaurants and food trucks as well as cooking demos by top Baltimore chefs, refreshing drinks, shopping, live music, and a kid’s zone.

It’s September and that means there’s one thing on the minds of Canton parents – sending the kiddos off to school. Canton has several options, both public and private, one being the rather unique Baltimore Montessori. We recently chatted with Laura Robinson the school’s Director. Here’s what she shared about education, the school’s philosophy, and Life in Canton.

The volunteers at the Canton Dog Park would love your help. In case you didn’t know, the park, the first off-leash dog park in the city, is volunteer-run. Currently, they’re running a little low on waste bags. If you have extra bags and would like to donate, there is a dispenser on-site at the park where you can stuff your extras.

The CCA Canton History Project, led by Dr. Raymond Bahr, strives to illustrate the rich history of Canton. An important aspect of this project is to place Historic Interpretive Marker Signs in strategic places around in the neighborhood. Two such markers were placed by the previous Canton Improvement Association (CIA) at the Canton Library and in O’Donnell Square.

One of the mantras of the CCA is “Get Neighborly”. An excellent example of this is the Beautify Baltimore Brunch Club. We talked with its founder Phil LaBarge to find out more about this very neighborly club.

In the spirit of bringing the community together, the Canton Square Hospitality Association (CSHA) is hosting two summer outdoor series, 3rd Fridays & Movie Night, at O’Donnell Square Park. Both events, held monthly through September, are designed for family fun!

Military family Laura and Joe Speakman, along with their 3-year-old son Jonah, are on the move again but are marking their time spent in Canton with a commemorative brick at O’Donnell Square Park. Joe is in the US Air Force, so they move often. We asked Laura why Canton has been so special to them and here’s what she shared.
