HHA Celebrates New Playground and Community Mural
/Hampstead Hill Academy (HHA), a neighborhood public charter school operated by the Baltimore Curriculum Project (BCP), celebrated the opening of its new playground and community mural on October 21.
This milestone follows the opening of the school's new Newstead Gym in 2025. With the previous playground removed during gym construction, restoring an outdoor play space was a critical next step.
The new playground features a variety of play equipment and interactive panels. It includes a weather station and colorful rubber surfacing with the HHA logo. This design offers students opportunities to play, explore, and build important life skills.
When school is not in session, the playground will also be open to the community. This provides a welcoming space for neighborhood children and families.
A colorful community-themed mural by artist Jordan Lawson celebrates the creativity and pride of the HHA community. The artwork transforms the concrete wall along the 500 block of South Linwood Avenue into a vibrant backdrop for the play area.
The project was made possible through support from the Middendorf Foundation, the Richman Foundation, the HHA PTO, and individual donors.
These improvements represent an investment not only in HHA students but also in the Canton community. It creates spaces that bring children and families together while strengthening neighborhood connections.
