Juneteenth Historic Marker Unveiling Celebration
/The Canton Anti-Racism Alliance and the Canton Community Association (CCA) invite the community to a Juneteenth Celebration on Wednesday, June 19 at 11 a.m. at O’Donnell Square Park.
The event will feature the dedication of a new historic marker memorializing 48 individuals enslaved on the Canton Plantation in 1805. The marker honors the stolen contributions of enslaved people of African descent and roots Black history visibly in the fabric of our neighborhood.
The program will feature participation from:
Representatives of the Canton Anti-Racism Alliance and CCA
Elected officials and noted historian(s)
Reverend Dr. Marietta Hebert-Davis, Interim Pastor, United Evangelical Church, UCC
A student from Hampstead Hill Academy (HHA)
All are invited to attend this meaningful moment of reflection and remembrance as we honor this vital piece of our neighborhood’s history. For more information, email: info@CantonCommunity.org.
