Raw Talent on the Waterfront

This Summer Cantonites can look forward to two new outstanding restaurants on the waterfront. Both have excellent food. Both have outdoor dining. Both have a beautiful view. And both have similar names… which seems to confuse people. So, we took an afternoon to chat with the teams at Raw Bar and Raw & Refined to learn a little more about each establishment.

RAW BAR

What is your name, your role at Raw Bar and how did you become involved?

My name is Niki Phillips and I am the Event Coordinator of Raw Bar. I began working for River Partners Hospitality in 2014 at the Barcocina Baltimore location. I began interning as an event coordinator with Bond Street Social in 2016 simultaneously. After several years working on off-site catering, I returned to River Partners Hospitality to Raw Bar. I am so excited to be returning to the place I called home for so long!

What can we expect from Raw Bar?

Raw Bar features fresh seafood with local ingredients and original twists meant to share amongst friends. Raw Bar’s handcrafted cocktail list emphasizes house-made mixers for next level freshness and taste. With amazing outdoor space and uninhibited views of the harbor, Raw Bar is a premier place to eat, drink and socialize. The beautiful and fully renovated space features glass and aluminum garage door windows that open to the harbor, so every seat indoor and outdoor will make the beautiful harbor view a part of the Raw Bar experience.

What are some menu favorites? Cocktails or other features worth noting?

My favorite cocktails of the moment are the Cucumber Fresca and the Bee’s Knees. The Cucumber Fresca features Kettle One cucumber and mint vodka, agave nectar, watermelon, lemonade, and Sprite. Meanwhile, the Bee’s Knees features Noblet’s gin, honey simple syrup, strawberry puree, and lemonade. I think they are both a nice light and refreshing cocktails, perfect for these summer months! My favorite menu items are the jumbo lump crab salad and the Maine lobster roll. The jumbo lump crab salad is served over green tomato gazpacho which is a nice chilled appetizer on a hot day. Followed by our Maine lobster roll that is served with a toasted brioche roll and wonderfully seasoned shoestring fries.

What do you like best about being a part of the Canton community?

Canton is a unique, eclectic community with residents in all stages of their lives. We are excited to bring a fresh new feel to the area that caters to everyone and to be a part of the fabric that makes Canton such a special area!

What else would you like people to know?

Raw Bar is an ideal choice to host your next event. We have a multitude of options, whether you need to plan a large corporate event, have a sit-down dinner with new clients, plan an exciting bachelorette party, or host a wedding. Our menu is designed to be shared and as such enhances the social aspect of your event. Our space is designed with private parties in mind and no detail has been overlooked in that regard. We have several dedicated private party rooms that can accommodate from 30 to 200 people. From the Harbor Room to the Chesapeake Room, or the Stage to the Loft, we have an option for everyone! For larger groups, our entire restaurant can be utilized. We feature a wraparound view of the harbor which will surely enhance the atmosphere of a function.

What is your name, your role at Raw & Refined and how did you become involved?

Dominic Lascola, Proprietor. Also on our team are Managing Partner Brent Sale, General Manager Jontell Hinton, Sales Director Leah Adams, and Sales Manager Emily Markides. Team work makes the dream work!

What can we expect from Raw & Refined?

Raw & Refined aims to provide an upscale dining experience in a casual, yet sophisticated-energetic bar environment. We’ll have DJs and live music Thursday through Sunday at our new deck bar, which overlooks the Lighthouse Point Marina and has become a destination in the short time we’ve been open. Our menu is Coastal Seafood Fare with Caribbean and South American influences. Waterfront dining is available on our front patio, along the promenade, and in our outdoor poolside lounge. There are also various spaces/areas available for private events and parties.

What are some menu favorites? Cocktails or other features worth noting?

Wood-fired oysters, jerk lobster, island nachos and flatbreads, including a vegan spiced cauliflower flatbread that have all been very popular. Our Cucumber Crush, Mango Mojito and Spicy Poolside Paloma are fan favorites.

What do you like best about being a part of the Canton community?

After having a successful seven years and counting on O’Donnell Square with El Bufalo, we couldn’t be more thrilled to help bring some energy and excitement back to the Canton Waterfront. We are excited to show a different side of ourselves.

What else would you like people to know?

We are launching brunch soon, so stay tuned. We also have several spaces and options for private/semi-private and or exclusive events.
