CCA & Bloom Box Spring Fundraiser
The Canton Community Association is pleased to announce our 2026 Spring Fundraiser in partnership with BloomBox! BloomBox is a local online garden center that sells perennials, planted containers, shrubs, trees, bagged soil and mulch, herbs and veggies, hanging baskets, and more. Order online, then your items will be delivered by hand, right to your home!

BloomBox will donate 15% of your purchase amount directly to us. What a great way to support a local business and the CCA!

Here’s how you can participate.

  1. Visit www.getblooming.com on your computer or cell phone

  2. Shop for perennials, hanging baskets, herbs, and more, add them to your shopping cart and head to the checkout page

  3. On the checkout page, you need to enter our unique code CantonCA15 into the ‘fundraising code’ box.

  4. After you order, BloomBox will hand-deliver your purchase directly to your home within 3 to 5 business days. It’s that easy!

Our fundraising event runs April 15 through May 15, 2026, during which time you can order as many times as you like. Head over to www.getblooming.com to place your order!

DPW Recycling Oops Tags
Baltimore City DPW recycling crews are now using Oops tags! Oops tags are notification hangers informing residents that their recycling can’t be picked up due to contamination/unaccepted items.If you receive an Oops tag, please remove the contamination before your next pickup day. Canton Ace Garden Party & Sale
Canton Ace Hardware is hosting its Annual Garden Party Sale on April 18 from 8 am-8 pm. Get 20% off on all of your favorite garden season essentials at 1022 S. Binney Street.

Forest Fest 2026
Visit the CCA at Forest Fest 2026 as we support CCA Business Member, The Forest Baltimore. Meet vendors, talk about products and enjoy a DJ, food trucks and giveaways April 18-20, 2026 at 3301 Boston Street, Canton. Visit the CCA table on April 19 from 1-4 pm to meet board members and volunteers.

Canco Open Air Market
New things are happening at The Can Company (Canco)! Under new ownership, Canco will be hosting their first Open Air Market on Sunday, April 19 from 9 am to 1 pm. The market will feature an exciting mix of vendors offering everything from fresh florals and coffee to handmade pasta, jewelry, candles, and so much more. Inspired by the rich history and vibrant atmosphere of traditional Italian markets, this event will bring together beautiful products, delicious flavors, and a lively community experience at 2400 Boston Street, Canton. HHA B3 Bingo Fundraiser
Join us for Bmore B3, the annual PTO Fundraiser for Hampstead Hill Academy, on April 18 from 6-11 pm. Enjoy bingo with cash prizes, a silent auction, great food, and more. Details and Tickets. The CCA is a proud sponsor of B3 2026.

Music on the Square Concert Series
Music on the Square Concert Series continues April 10 with Caleb Stine and Spectator Bird. Join us for a night of heartfelt songwriting, intricate harmonies, and storytelling that spans the Shenandoah Valley to Baltimore’s folk scene. COTS Easter Egg Hunt
Church on the Square hosts their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday, April 5 at 12:30 pm at O’Donnell Square Park. Bring the kids to search for treat-filled eggs. COTS is located at 1025 S. Potomac St. For details, contact info@churchonthesquarebaltimore.org.

Sail250 Maryland & Air Show Baltimore Food Competitions
SAIL250 Maryland & Airshow Baltimore will take place June 24–30, 2026, bringing international tall ships, naval vessels, free public ship tours, harbor festivals, and the U.S. Navy Blue Angels airshow to Baltimore’s waterfront. As part of the celebration, organizers are accepting applications for several festival food competitions taking place June 26–28 at the Inner Harbor and Fells Point.

Competitions include:

●       Crab Soup Cook-off (Professional Chefs) – June 26, Inner Harbor. $25 entry; the winning chef earns a $250 donation to a veteran-focused charity.

●       Crab Soup Cook-off (Home Cooks) – June 28, Inner Harbor. Free entry; prizes up to $250.

●       Baltimore’s Big Apple Pie Bake-off – June 28, Fells Point. Free entry; prizes up to $250.

●       The Sage of Baltimore: H.L. Mencken

Saturday, April 18, 2026, 2:00 pm

A look at the life and influence of famed Baltimore journalist and author H. L. Mencken. Presented by educator and author Jack Burkert in the library meeting room. This program is presented by the Friends of the Canton Library, and will take place in the Meeting Room.

Saturday, April 25, 2026, 11:00 am

Learn how to start seeds for a successful spring garden in this hands-on workshop with Filbert Street Garden. Space is limited and registration is required. Please register here.

Maryland Tax Credits
Are you enrolled in the Homeowners’ Tax Credit? The tax credit limits the amount of property taxes homeowners pay based upon household income. Enroll online at bit.ly/4nVX9ap. Need assistance enrolling? Call Southeast CDC to make an appointment with a housing counselor at 410-342-3234. 

The Maryland Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is one of the most impactful tools available to help working families keep more money in their pockets. The Maryland EITC can provide significant financial relief for eligible residents, yet many individuals who qualify do not always claim it. Visit MarylandComptroller.gov/EarnedIt to find out if you’re eligible or ask a tax professional to check for you.

Reporting and Preventing Crime – Tip Line
The Baltimore City Police Department asks neighbors to report crimes via this TIP email: SEDtips@baltimorepolice.org. Security camera footage and photos should be included.

CCA Seeking Pro Bono Lawyer
The Canton Community Association is looking for an attorney who can offer occasional pro bono advice to support our volunteer-led neighborhood organization. CCA Public Meetings 2026
February 17, May 19, September 15, and November 17
Meetings are held at the United Evangelical Church at 3200 Dillon St. and live-streamed on the CCA Facebook page. 

CCA Free Community Pitch-In / Dumpster Days 2026
The CCA hosts a Community Pitch-In Day featuring a FREE community dumpster  4x a year. 2026 days include March 7 and May 30, plus 2 more dates TBD. The dumpster will be located near 1011 S. Lakewood Ave, alongside Safeway just north of Boston Street from approximately 9:00 am until noon or until full. Plan to go early, as it usually fills fast. 

CCA Committees / Volunteer Opportunities
The CCA has a variety of volunteer opportunities that enable neighbors to share their time and talent with the community. As we begin the new year, we’d love to see some fresh faces join our committees (Block Captains, Public Safety, Membership, Transportation, Economic Development, Education, Marketing, Membership, Social, Volunteer and more.) The CCA also oversees the Friends of Canton Dog Park & Friends O’Donnell Square, and partners with Canton Canopy, the Canton Anti-Racism Alliance, and the I Wonder Garden. (Details)
