Canton Dog Park Update
The Canton Community Association (CCA) and Friends of the Canton Dog Park continue with efforts to install a new drainage system on the large-dog side of the park. We met with a landscape firm and a soil engineer to determine the most cost-effective solution and are continuing to work with the City to secure the necessary permits.
This effort comes in response to a long-standing issue: during heavy rain, water pools in the sandy surface, creating a large standing-water area that can make this side of the park unusable. Coordinating this project has been challenging, but our dedicated volunteers remain committed to making the park safer and more enjoyable for neighbors and their pups. Thank you for your patience and support—we’ll share updates as progress is made. 🐾
Maryland Earned Income Tax Credit
Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is one of the most impactful tools available to help working families keep more money in their pockets. The Maryland EITC can provide significant financial relief for eligible residents, yet many individuals who qualify do not always claim it. Visit MarylandComptroller.gov/EarnedIt to find out if you’re eligible or ask a tax professional to check for you.

CCA Committees / Volunteer Opportunities
The CCA has a variety of volunteer opportunities that enable neighbors to share their time and talent with the community. As we begin the new year, we’d love to see some fresh faces join our committees (Block Captains, Public Safety, Membership, Transportation, Economic Development, Education, Marketing, Membership, Social, Volunteer and more.) The CCA also oversees the Friends of Canton Dog Park & Friends O’Donnell Square, and partners with Canton Canopy, the Canton Anti-Racism Alliance, and the I Wonder Garden. (Details)
If you have skills in these areas—or just enthusiasm and a willingness to help—we’d love to have you on board! You don’t have to take on all tasks for any position. Any help is appreciated, and even a little of your time can make a big difference in our neighborhood. Interested? Email info@CantonCommunity.org to learn more or sign up! Together, we can continue to build a stronger, more vibrant Canton.
