The Canton Anti-Racism Alliance, in partnership with the office of Councilmember Zeke Cohen and Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) Baltimore, is pleased to host a virtual evening of conversation with Dr. Lawrence T. Brown and Councilmember Cohen on Tuesday, April 6 from 6:30-8:00pm.

In his new book The Black Butterfly: The Harmful Politics of Race and Space in America, Dr. Brown recounts the long history of racial segregation in Baltimore and other hyper-segregated cities, its roots in racist systems and structures, and its ongoing impact on health and wealth. Throughout the book, Dr. Brown offers a five-step plan to reverse the damaging effects of segregation, heal and restore redlined Black neighborhoods, and help achieve racial equity. In hosting this event, The Alliance hopes to inspire community members to engage in anti-racist work and take action towards making Canton a more inclusive, diverse, and welcoming neighborhood.
