CCA Community CleanUp

In conjunction with the Mayor's Annual Fall CleanUp, the CCA in encouraging neighbors to participate in a community-wide effort on Saturday, October 23.

The CCA will be at O'Donnell Square Park distributing disposable bags from 9-11am or until the supply is gone.

We will also have our new foldable, reusable totes for sale.

Volunteers are needed to help weed at the park, but you can select anywhere in the neighborhood to help. So, whether it's at a park or on your block or someone else's, thanks for lending a hand!

Hallo-Burgers 4 Boobs-Ween Party

Stop by the Knotty Pine, 801 S. Conkling St., on Saturday, October 30 from 1:00-5:00 pm for their Hallow-Burgers 4 Boobs-Ween Party. Enjoy specialty burgers, live music, a kid’s corner, raffle items, and more! Since this is the day before Halloween, they would love for people to come in costume. There will be trick or treating at the event and who doesn't love candy? This event supports 2 local families affected by Breast Cancer.

New Recycling Carts

Mayor Brandon M. Scott and the Department of Public Works (DPW) announced the plan to begin distribution of new recycling carts to more than 190,000 City households beginning Tuesday, September 28. The five-month distribution process will provide all curbside-eligible City households with a free 65-gallon rolling, lidded recycling cart.

Canton Walk & Talk

The CCA continues their Walk & Talk series in October. Previously called “COP Walks”, the event now serves a broader purpose and includes a more social aspect. This month the group meets on October 19 at O’Donnell Square Park at 7:00 pm. While walking neighbors discuss improvement and safety issues, then will end the night at the newly opened Bayside Cantina at 2809 Boston Street at 8:00 pm for some social time. Everyone is invited including residents, business owners, local police, and government officials. Come #GetNeighborly!

Great Halloween Lantern Parade & Festival

Join neighbors, friends, and family at Patterson Park on Saturday, October 23 to celebrate the 22nd Anniversary of The Great Halloween Lantern Parade and Festival. This year, they hope the festival will look more like the pre-COVID festivities, but they are still working out the details. Bayside Cantina Soft Opening

Local restaurateur Carlos Cruz opens Bayside Cantina in the former Raw Bar location at 2809 Boston Street at the Canton Waterfront. The restaurant features a Tequila Bar & Mexican Cuisine. Red Cross Blood Drive
The Fells Point Community Blood Drive #10 will be held at the Admiral Fell Inn on October 26th & 27th from 1:00-6:30 pm. Please register in advance at www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/find-drive. The sponsor code is "fellspointcommunity". Donations are by appointment only to ensure the health and safety of everyone. Thank you for donating! 

Photographers Needed

The Marketing Committee is seeking volunteer photographers to take images at CCA and other community events. Whether you're someone with professional experience or just enjoy snapping pics of our wonderful neighborhood on your phone, you can get involved in helping our community. Examples include the Canton Safety & Improvement Walk & Talks, O'Donnell Square Park Cleanups, and the Saturday concerts at the Can Company. Images captured at these events would be shared on CCA social media and in our marketing materials. To learn more about this volunteer role, please email Marketing@CantonCommunity.org. 

Canton Anti-Racism Alliance

The Canton Anti-Racism Alliance is dedicated to affecting long-term, impactful changes in our neighborhood to foster a more diverse, equitable, inclusive, and welcoming community. The Alliance meets the 4th Tuesday of every month via Zoom. To join, email president@cantoncommunity.org for details. The next meeting is Tuesday, September 28. Everyone is welcome! 

Reporting and Preventing Crime – Tip Line

The Baltimore City Police Department asks neighbors to report crimes via this TIP email: SEDtips@baltimorepolice.org. Security camera footage and photos should be included.

Community Outreach

The CCA and the Canton Anti-Racism Alliance are committed to fostering communication across our community and we need your help. To make sure we are reaching neighbors beyond social media we are looking for businesses, organizations, schools, churches, senior and rec centers, etc. to serve as points of distribution for information. If your business or organization has a place to post a flyer, distributes a newsletter, has an email list, etc. and you would like to help facilitate outreach to our neighbors, please email info@CantonCommunity.org. 

Block Captains

The CCA is looking for Block Captains to increase communication and help bring about more organization from the ground up. Block Captains also play an important role in the Get Lit Canton project. If you are interested in representing your block, please email info@cantoncommunity.org and put Block Captain in the subject line.

CCA Committees

CCA committees include Arts, Economic Development, Education, Marketing, Public Safety, Transportation, Social, Membership and Volunteer. The CCA also oversees the Friends of Canton Dog Park and Friends of O’Donnell Square, and partners with Canton Canopy.
