CCA Public Meeting

The next quarterly CCA Public Meeting is on Tuesday, September 13 from 6:30-8:00 pm. It will be a hybrid, both in-person at the United Evangelical Church at 3200 Dillon Street (enter from East Ave.) and via Zoom. HDC Volunteers (pix)

Thank you to new Canton Community Association Business members HDC, Inc.. The team spent their day painting and doing some cleanup at O'Donnell Square Park. They also hired a landscaping crew to do some much-needed grooming including trimming the overgrown roses in the center circle. Way to #GetNeighborly!!  

Free Community Dumpster Day (Photo)

The CCA is hosting a free community Dumpster Day on September 10 from 9 am til noon or full. Plan to go early as it usually fills fast.

This month the dumpster will be in the Safeway parking lot, (on the Lakewood side) at 2610 Boston Street.

Acceptable materials at the dump include household trash, furniture, other bulk items, appliances, scrap metal, cans, glass, plastics, paper, cardboard, and yard waste that is bagged appropriately. No toxic or hazardous waste.

Unacceptable materials include paint, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals, acids, caustics, gasoline, mercury thermometers/thermostats, syringes, fire extinguishers, propane tanks, helium tanks, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, and any other solid, liquid, or gaseous substance that is14740 regulated as hazardous by State or federal law.

Dypski Park Safety Announcement (Photo)

Baltimore Recnparks would like to remind everyone that Dypski Park is still being renovated and not open for public use yet. While they are close to being finished, the park is under construction and is not safe for children or adults at this time. There will be an announcement and most lik14740ely a celebration when it opens to the public. The projected time frame is early Fall 2022. In the meantime, the park will remain locked. We know you're all excited, so thanks for your cooperation! 

ODSP Park Cleanup (pix-Michelle)

Shoutout to neighborhood volunteer Michelle McKenzie for weeding the center and ends of the park for the last 2 months. We’re excited that Michelle will be helping lead future cleanups. You can join Michelle and the Stewards of O'Donnell Square Park every second Saturday of the month to clean and maintain the Park. Charity Golf Tournament (flyer)

The Exchange Club of Highlandtown-Canton is hosting their annual fundraiser Exchange Club Charity Golf Tournament on Thursday, September 22. Register to play or have your business/organization sign on as a sponsor. 

The Exchange Club is a nonprofit community service organization that supports SE Baltimore. Service includes an annual toy drive in conjunction with BPD, a scholarship program, and providing holiday meals to area families in need. They also partner with and donate to charities supporting our local police officers and firefighters. The CCA partners with them for the Canton Day of Giving every December. CCA EDC Update

Here’s an update from our team on the CCA Economic Development Committee.  

1. 2212 Essex Street - (Adam Carballo from Carballo Architecture and Paul Barbo, homeowner) - to add a 4th floor addition on the home and go to 45' height.

2. 3205 Fait Avenue (Kim & Steve Mason from Mason Properties are the developer) - to revert the current property to its original three lots and develop 3 townhouses.

3. 2901 & 2907 O'Donnell Street (Caroline Hecker, Jenifer Fedeli and/or Jackie McCusker) - Live entertainment request for Mama's on the Half Shell and Nacho Mama's. MOU is in progress to be created.

CCA Committees

CCA committees include Arts, Economic Development, Education, Marketing, Membership, Public Safety, Transportation, Social, Sustainability, and Volunteer. The CCA also oversees the Friends of Canton Dog Park and Friends of O’Donnell Square, and partners with Canton Canopy. And, in 2020 the CCA founded a new community committee, the Canton Anti-Racism Alliance. New members are welcomed.
