CCA Special Honor Recipients 2022

Congratulations to Stephanie Fleishman and Dr. Raymond Bahr for receiving special recognition from the CCA for their volunteerism and community work.

Stephanie Fleishman, owner of the gift shop 2910 on the Square, has been a community volunteer since 1999. We think she’s awesome and want to thank her for 20+ years of support, donating to fundraisers, selling CCA merchandise, participating in cleanups, attending community walks & meetings, and being generally fabulous to our community. We appreciate her!

Stephanie always recommends the CCA to new residents of Canton who come to her store. She is a huge supporter of the organization and the community. She is also a dog lover (have you met Winston?) championing animal rescue by volunteering with Wings of Love Kuwait.

Steph says, “I like what the CCA does for the neighborhood and the people involved with the CCA. I think the CCA is a vital part of the community and think everyone who lives in Canton should be a member.”

Thanks, Stephanie, you’re the best. Let’s all #GetNeighborly and show her some love by #ShoppingLocal at 2910!

Next up, in our 2022 Community Honors is local amateur historian and all-around likable guy, Dr. Raymond Bahr. Dr. Bahr is receiving special recognition from the CCA, Team 46, and the Baltimore City Council for his work on the Canton History Project. (Details: https://bit.ly/34Yod5w).

Since 2010, Dr. Bahr has single-handedly run the Canton History Project, a series of historic markers which document the history of the Canton Company (1828-mid 1980s) spotlighting Canton as the epicenter of the Industrial Revolution in Baltimore City. He is responsible for the research, copywriting, and fundraising.

When we asked Dr. Bahr how it feels to be acknowledged for his hard work on this impactful project, he replied “I am grateful, but I did not do it for this reason. I was surprised that the information on the Canton Company of Baltimore and the Industrialization of Canton was little known. I became determined to get this information out. The residents in Canton have been very receptive to learning more about the history of the Canton area and for this, I am most grateful.”

He adds that CCA Board Member Doug Kaufman was very encouraging and CCA President Mark Edelson has been very supportive and understanding along the way. Bahr says, “I could not ask for greater help from the Canton Community Association.”

In turn, the CCA couldn’t ask for a more dedicated and resourceful neighbor. We appreciate you, Dr. Bahr! We thank you for your impactful work and continuing commitment to our community.
