Maryland SPCA Offers Pit Bull Spaying/Neutering

According to the Maryland SPCA, more Pit Bulls are abandoned at Baltimore area animal shelters than any other breed of dogs. The reason is simple: more Pit Bulls are being bred each year by owners who don't spay or neuter them.

To help address this problem, the Maryland SPCA has launched Pit-Fix, a month-long campaign to "help break the breeding cycle and focus on lifesaving," according to the MDSCPA's press release announcing the program.

Every Sunday during February, Pit Bull owners can bring their pets in to the MD SPCA clinic on 3300 Falls Road (appointment required) and have them spayed or neutered for only $20.

To make an appointment, e-mail the MDSPCA or call their Spay/Neuter Hotline at (410) 235-8826, extension 140. You can find out more about the MDSPCA by visiting their website.
