Building Healthy Green Communities

Community associations, leaders, activists and individuals interested in taking action to better the environment and their neighborhoods are invited to attend. There will be a discussion of the fundamentals of creating healthy neighborhoods and presentations of what local organizations are doing to help communities. Presentations and projects by Baltimore City, Civic Works, Community Greens, Common Ecology and Parks and People. This event is free.

American Cancer Society Relay for Life - Baltimore City

The goal of Relay for Life is to celebrate survivors, remember those who lost the battle, and fight back against the disease by raising money for both cancer research as well as programs that aid patients.

Relay for Life is a 12-hour walking relay in which teams (typically 8-10 people) participate and raise money for cancer research. One person from every team must be walking at all times. There will be raffles, auctions, games, music, food, and sleeping areas.

Featuring pro road racing, recreational bike ride, 12& 31 mile rides, bike trials, stunt show, a Pepsi-sponsored interactive village, bike & health expo, food & live music at the Dangerously Delicious Pies bandstand, a kids activity pavilion, and a kid's helmet give-away.

Every Wednesday Orpheum Films Presented by Baltimore Movie Museum
Wednesdays at 7:30 pm.

While the Fells Point treasure, the Orphuem Theater, is gone, it has been reborn as the Baltimore Movie Museum! The Creative Alliance teams up with encyclopedically informed film aficionado George Figgs (aka Orpheum George) to present revival films Orpheum style every Wednesday. Patterson Park Youth Soccer
Saturdays, October 20th through November 10th, 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., behind (west of) Utz Field, near and south of the pool. Close to corner of Eastern Ave. and Linwood Ave. Al Pringle, a former English Premier League Player, will be returning to Patterson Park beginning Saturday, October 21st to conduct a free, four-week program for boys and girls ages 4-7 years old. Those children attending all four sessions will receive a free soccer ball and T-shirt at the end of the program. Call (410) 276-3676 for more information.

SEDP-CRC (Southeasten District Police Community Relations Council)
SEDP-CRC's open public meetings are held at the Southeastern District Police Station, 5710 Eastern Avenue.

Open public meetings are held the first Monday of every month, however, if a holiday falls on that day then the meeting is moved to the first Tuesday of the month. Meetings start at 7 pm.

Park on the open lot in the rear of the station Entrance to the meeting is on the left, the door sign states "Police Only" Take another left and walk directly into the roll call room.

Every Tuesday Yoga at the Hatton Center, Fait and Linwood in Canton
First class free! 4:45 pm - Easing Into Yoga (voluntary donation); 6:15 pm - Basics (first class free, then $10, pay as you attend); 7:45 pm - Continuing (first class free, then $10, pay as you attend). Taught by Linda Howard, E-RYT 500. No classes on election nights, or when Baltimore City schools are closed for snow.

Dog Park Clean Ups are held the first Saturday of every month from 10 am to Noon at the Dog Park.

Dog Park Committee meetings are the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm at 3500 Boston Street, Suite 235.

Every Thursday Through October, Family Fishing Fun!
6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Patterson Park Boat Lake. Join Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks for Family Fishing Fun. Bait and rods will be provided for catch & release fishing. The Friends of the Canton Library meet on the second Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the library. We are always looking for volunteers to help with book sales, special events, and fundraising, so please join us.

Every Monday, Charm City Swing at Austin Grill!
This is not your grandfather's swing dancing! Named Baltimore's "Best Reason to Go Out On A Monday Night!" by Baltimore Magazine's Best of Baltimore 2005, Charm City Swing offers beginner lessons on Mondays, and intermediate/advanced lessons on Tuesdays, followed by dancing until 11 pm.
